Fully qualified; Sports, Health, Fitness, Pilates and Reformer Pilates Teacher, as well as a GP Referral & Sport Injury Therapist & Wellness Therapist, with 20 years experience.

My name is Sarah Walsh, I work at Hummingbirds Pilates and Yoga Studio in Writtle, Chelmsford and ETP Clinic in Mayland as a Pilates teacher. My journey into the world of Pilates began fifteen years ago when I hurt my back and researched for exercises to help with my rehabilitation, upon which I discovered Pilates.

Once I started reading about the Pilates concept I couldn’t stop, I was amazed by the astonishing benefits of Pilates exercises in the prevention and rehabilitation of injuries, improving a person well-being both physically and mentally. On further reading into the Pilates Principles, I could see how this linked into my Sport, fitness and Exercise degree and how I could apply my knowledge to help people achieve a happier and healthier lifestyle free from muscle pain and mobility problems.

To start my journey, I enrolled onto a Pilates teacher’s course, qualifying 14 years ago. I changed all my exercise classes to Pilates and introduced Pilates into my sports teaching within local primary schools.

My desire to help people to achieve their physical goals, along with the empathy I have for people with injuries drove me further on in my journey. I went on to complete a diploma in Pilates Reformer exercise and Sports Injury, upon which I set up my Essex Total Pilates (ETP) Wellness & Injury Therapy Business. Wanting to enable more people to experience the ever-evolving benefits of the Pilates reformer machine, I worked closely with the Hummingbirds directors to set up and implement the Pilates Reformer 4-week courses, offering courses for people of all ages and levels.

My growing passion for Pilates continues as my thirst for learning grows!

I went on to completed a Hatha yoga course to add diversity to my classes and a level five diploma in Injury Assessment and Rehabilitation for Sport and Exercise to extend my knowledge and experience within the world of injury therapy.

So, what is next?

Over the past few years, I seem an increase in people suffering from muscular problems especially lower back pain, cause by poor posture and lifestyle.

For this reason, I set up an Instagram page to illustrate what good posture is and the most effective exercises to help eliminate back pain. This Instagram page will also have information on both Reformer Pilates and Pilates exercises targeting different areas of the body to increase strength, mobility and muscular tone. Along with updates about courses and events Please following me on; ETP Reformer Pilates & Injury Therapy

Finally, as I get asked so many different questions about Pilates and its various types I decided to create an informative blog about the subject to inform people, so watch for a new blog page coming soon.
